Our Value by Image endpoints allow users to submit photos and property addresses via API in order to generate a value and adjusted condition score for the property. The API works asynchronously in order to be able to process the photos. Full documentation is available in our API docs, linked above.
How many images can I upload to the property/value_by_image endpoint?
The endpoint currently accepts up to 20 total images per property.
Is there a suggested “make up” or set of images that should be uploaded per address?
We recommend submitting a set that displays an image from each interior room of the property.
An ideal example set would include:
1 picture of the front-facing exterior
1 picture of the kitchen, 2 if needed to capture major fixtures
1 picture of each bedroom
1 picture of each bathroom that captures major fixtures
1 picture of the living room
1 picture each for any other rooms present in the home
The more images submitted, the more accurate we can be in determining the value and condition of the property based on the images.
Why don’t you accept more than 20 images?
In order to have a performant API, we set the limit to 20 images so that we can return a value and condition relatively quickly (within ~1 minute or so). In addition, we have found that after 20 images, the incremental improvement to the model diminishes quickly, and large sets of photos can negatively impact the model predictions .
Are exterior pictures taken into account when determining the value and condition of the property?
Yes, exterior photos are taken into account, but are less indicative of the actual property condition than interior photos.
